ITEMS THAT WE DO NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPT

All items must be in good condition to go straight from your home to our showroom floor. We do not perform repairs on any items.

You may be eligible to deduct donations of household items, textiles (clothing), and other property made to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County if you itemize deductions on your tax return. Please consult your accountant, attorney, or the IRS for specific guidance.

IMPORTANT:

Be sure to request a receipt from the donation attendant when dropping off your items – you will need them to support your tax deduction with the IRS.
According to IRS guidelines, it is the donor’s responsibility to establish the value of donated items, referred to as “fair market value.” You may determine this value by visiting Habitat for Humanity ReStores or similar retailers to compare pricing.

Please note: Habitat for Humanity employees are not permitted to assess or verify the value of your donations, per IRS regulations.

For donations valued at less than $501:

Keep your donation receipts from Habitat for Humanity and an itemized list of the goods donated. Ensure that the list includes detailed descriptions of each item and the “fair market value” as determined by you.
For donations between $501 and $5,000:
Retain your receipt and itemized list as mentioned above. You will also need to complete and submit Section A of IRS Form 8283 with your tax return.
For donations exceeding $5,001:
Please coordinate large donations with us in advance to simplify your tax filing process. For donations over $5,001, a Habitat for Humanity representative must sign your completed IRS Form 8283.

Please consult your accountant, attorney, or the IRS for specific guidance.
